Wood-Fired Ovens

When some of the earliest known renditions of pizza were being made, they were cooked almost exclusively in wood-fired ovens. It’s for this reason that many recognize wood-fired ovens as being synonymous with classic and traditional pizza styles, most notably Neapolitan pizza. Wood-fired ovens are known for the distinct taste they give to pizzas, as they will often char the crust. They are also much hotter than other pizza ovens with an average temperature of 700 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.

Convection & Conventional Ovens

Standard in most modern homes is either a convection or conventional oven. Chances are, if you are making pizza at home, you will likely be using one of these two options. Both ovens are far less hot than wood-fired ovens and usually cook pizza anywhere from 400 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Perhaps one of the strongest benefits of these ovens is that they are both easy to use, though convection ovens are known to cook pizza more evenly due to the fan that is inside of them.

Outdoor Ovens

For pizza aficionados across the world, outdoor ovens have become a popular appliance to enjoy an authentic and delicious pizza experience right in the comfort of their outdoor space. Typically, outdoor ovens are wood-fired or gas-fired, the latter of which tends be to more convenient for casual cooks at home, as its temperature is easier to regulate.
